2001 ford escape spark plug stripped

why does my Tecumseh motor leak gas out of carb with no air filter ?

its a go kart engine i just bought it and has no air filter and leaks gas out of carb

sounds to me like the float and needle vavle are stuck in the open position.you need to take the carb off and clean the float and needle vavle.
